Botanical Gardens of the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg

Opportunities

The Botanical Garden provides many opportunities for professionals and volunteers. Every year we educate trainees in gardening with specialization on ornamental plants. Practical skills as well as knowledge of different culture conditions are provided in the garden. Theoretical expertise is schooled in a technical college.
We also provide training opportunities for professionals and volunteers who like to join our team temporarily. Some topics of this training program are listed below:
  • Principles of gardening in a scientific institution (balance between science, education and public interests)
  • Maintenance and management of a high diversity of different plant species
  • Principles of scientific determination of plants
  • Application of information technology in plant collections (emphasis on data bases)
  • Management of extinct or nearly extinct plant species
  • Maintenance of research collections
